Caprese - The chocolate cake of Capri

This is a flourless cake from Capri, perfect for those who follow a gluten free diet.

2 cups almonds blanched
8 oz Dark Chocolate Chips
¾ cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
6 Eggs
2 tsp Baking Powder
2 Tbsp Kalhua Coffee Liqueur
Powdered Sugar


Preheat the oven at 180 o C.
In food processor, grind the almonds and chocolate to a flour consistency. With a spatula blend it the baking powder, Kalhua.
In a mixer beat butter with the sugar until frothy creamy, about 10 minutes. Add the eggs, one by one and beating in between.

Pour in the chocolate mixture and mix well. Pour in a buttered  25 cm round cake tin - preferably silicone -  and bake for 50 minutes until the test withe skewer comes out clean. Let cool before taking out of the tin.
Just before serving dust with icing sugar and top with fruits of your choice.


Top the cake with any fruit you like and serve with whipped cream
