Preheat oven at 180° C.

Beat the butter until it begins to lighten in color; add the sugar, eggs, baking soda and flour; knead well into a dough.

Grease and line two 26 cm pans with butter and breadcrumbs.

Roll the pastry out thinly and line the bottom of the pans; spread a layer of jam over the pastry.

Use the remaining pastry to form 1 cm thick strips and arrange in a criss-cross pattern over the jam.

Bake  for approximately 45 minutes.
