No image available The root of the plant "Raphanus sativus" of the mustard family, grown in many forms and colours and ranging in size from small spheres to 30 cm long, carrot-like roots. Its colour can be white, red or black and its crisp, white flesh has a slightly peppery flavour of varying degrees of strength. It is generally used raw in salads and as a decorative garnish, but can also be pickled.
