What to do: Stretching over 316km2, Malta presents extensive opportunities to carry out different activities, including cultural tours, sports, agrotourism activities or just a relaxing holiday along the magnificent beaches that surround it. A ferry trip around the Maltese Islands and a visit to the sister islands of Gozo and Comino are not to be missed.

Where to go: Malta's prehistoric temples are unique; they are the oldest standing stone structures. These megalithic temples, as well as the capital Valletta, are identified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Valetta is inextricably linked to the history of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem and its 320 monuments, all within an area of 55 hectares, make it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world .

One splendid day out is a trip to the Three Cities, a historical area located in the south and encircled by a magnificent yacht marina. The evening can include a romantic tour of Mdina – the old capital city of Malta – with its breathtaking views of the entire island. The beaches are the ideal place for relaxation and to enjoy a swim in the warm days of spring, or  a refreshing experience in the hot days of summer.

A stopover at Gozo is a must for those who want to experience the natural beauty of these islands. A famous spot, the Azzure Window, illustrates the magnificence of the sea’s natural processes, while the Ċittadella with its fortified walls, is also a key attraction for tourists. In addition, Gozo is famous for the traditional lace-making and delicacies such as the Gozitan cheeselets.

A brief ferry trip will take you to Comino, an excursion that can include hiking, visits to the historical sites and swimming around an island inhabited by only 4 people. This island offers top notch accommodation for those who want to spend the night.

The Maltese Islands have activities going on all year round, such as wine festivals, firework festivals, village fiestas, carnival, Christmas and Easter celebrations and much more.

Where to stay and how to move around: Malta and Gozo present diverse accommodation options ranging from selfcatering lodgings, to 5-star deluxe hotels. With the English language being one of the official languages of Malta, communicating with the locals is quite easy. The best way to reach Malta is via plane or a ferry trip from Sicily. Travelling within the country can be done by hiring a car, taking taxis or making use of public transport.

What to eat: Traditional Maltese cuisine is based on a Mediterranean diet, using fresh, seasonal, locally-found produce, and includes pastizzi (ricotta or pea filled savoury pasties), ross ilforn (baked rice), rabbit, horse meat and Maltese sausage among other dishes. As for desserts, the island offers its own traditional sweets including qagħaq ta’ lgħasel (treacle ring shaped pastries) and imqaret (deep fried diamond shaped date slices). Food in Malta will never be a problem!

Malta can be visited throughout the year due to its mild climate, and it is an ideal holiday spot for anyone who wants to experience something special in a friendly environment
